Elizabeth
Burton

Elizabeth Burton is the Chief Strategist at Fortress Investment Group. Previously, she was the Client Investment Strategist for Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Before Goldman, Elizabeth was CIO of the Employees’ Retirement System of the State of Hawaii (“HIERS”), where she oversaw $19 billion in pension fund assets. Prior to joining HIERS, Elizabeth Burton served as Head of Risk and the Quantitative Strategies Group at the Maryland State Retirement Agency. Previously, Elizabeth Burton held positions in consulting, economics, asset management and fixed income trading. Elizabeth serves on the Board of Directors of the Chartered Alternative Investment Association (CAIA)and the Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth has received various industry awards, including CIO Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 in June 2017. In 2019 Elizabeth received the Industry Innovation Award for <$20B plan by CIO Magazine and was listed in The Power 100. In 2020, she was added to the list of All-Star Chief Investment Officers by The Trusted Insight. In 2021, she was named Advocate of the Year at the Allocators’ Choice Awards. In 2023, she was recognized as one of the Top Ten Most Influential Advisors by Chief Investment Officer Magazine. She frequently makes appearances on CNBC, Fox Business and Bloomberg News to address the state of the markets.

Elizabeth earned a BA in Politics and French from Washington and Lee University and an MBA in Finance and Econometrics and Statistics from the University of Chicago. She is a charterholder of CAIA.
